Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering
and Technology comes under the banner of A.M. Kanniappa Mudaliar
and A.M.K. Jambulinga Mudaliar Educational Trust, with the motto
of imparting Education in an uncompromising manner with all available
facilities and infrastructure. SSIET started in 1999 is in her infancy
but has all potential to bloom into one of the premier institutions
of the State in the near future. The Trustees belonging to the industrial
family of Vellore have a n excellent track record in managing many industrial
organizations.
Located on the Chennai - Bangalore Highway at Chembarambakkam, Poonamalle Taluk, Thiruvallur District (3 Kms from Poonamallee), the institute is situated in a serene place in sylvan surroundings, which is highly suited to intellectual and academic pursuits. Infrastructure
The college has spacious buildings
with Classrooms, Library, Laboratories, Drawing Hall, Computer Centre,
Canteen, Waiting Room for all staff and students. A new building 'Sree
Sastha Institute of Management and Computer Studies' of 18100 Sq. Ft.
is constructed in the ground area. The Computer Lab of MCA in 1700 Sq.
Ft with 2 server machines, 60 client machines. The MCA Library has a
collection of 1800 Books for MCA and M.Sc. (IT) with 15 Journals, Magazines
and Chip CDs.
The Chemistry Lab is well spaced and equipped with digital hi-tech instruments and apparatus. Each student is provided with an individual set up for conducting experiments.
Physics Lab: Which forms a part of Physical Sciences Laboratory is very spacious and fully equipped with the apparatus as prescribed in the syllabus.
Workshop: The College has a well spaced workshop with large sized worktables and ample number of tools. This workshop besides being used for basic workshop practice also helps students understand basic mechanical engineering.
Thermal Engineering & Fluid Mechanics Lab: These labs are equipped with Test Rigs. The 2 Internal Combustion Engine Models is a boon to the First Year students to have an indepth understanding of the Mechanism of the IC engines.
COMPUTER CENTRE: The College has a well established Computer Lab with latest Computer Hardware, Software and State of the art Networking. Hardware includes Pentium III servers and Clients in total of 130 numbers, Networking is implemented using Intel 410 switches and structured cabling is followed. A peripheral device for printing is available, which includes Dot Matrix, Inkjet and Laser Printers. College has a 64 KBPS ISDN connectivity for accessing the internet. To extend the facility to students and staff, an internet lab is being planned with 30 nos of exclusive computers. Computers are provided a backup for 2 hours through uninterrupted power supply (UPS). All the labs are amply equipped and well maintained. Facilities to work in the field of fibre optics are also available.
