Tirunelveli: The Placement Cell of the Department of Youth Welfare, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, which ensured employment for more than 15 students last year with IT giant Wipro and also a postgraduate degree in information technology even while getting an attractive salary, is all set to conduct similar recruitment programme on August 19.
According to Director, Department of Youth Welfare, MSU, X. Rosary Mary, whose efforts brought Wipro to the campus of MSU last year, the WASE (Wipro Academy of Software Excellence) is a ‘Earn while you learn' programme for non-engineering graduates in B.Sc. (Computer Science), Information Technology, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Bachelor of Computer Application and Bachelor of Computer Management.
Those who have passed out in 2010 are eligible to participate in the recruitment. Selected candidates will be posted in Wipro's any one of the ultra-modern labs while undergoing a four-year MS programme in Software Engineering in BITS, Pilani.
Those who have got 50 per cent aggregate marks in SSLC, Plus Two and 60 per cent aggregate in undergraduate level and have Mathematics as one of the subjects in Plus Two may apply for this programme. Selection procedure consists of a written test and a personal interview.
After joining WASE, the software engineers will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 7,500 (during first three months of the academic year), Rs. 9,000 (from 4th to 12th months of first academic year), Rs. 11,500 (during second academic year), Rs. 16,667 (during the third academic year) and Rs. 21,500 (during the fourth academic year).
Aspiring candidates should report at the university campus at Abhishekapatti on August 19 at 10 a.m.
They should bring their photo identity card, two copies of resume, 2 passport size photos and have an e-mail ID. They should pay a registration fee of Rs. 25.
“Candidates will have to appear for an aptitude test followed by an interview,” Dr. Rosary Mary said.
