Madurai: The efforts of Anna University-Chennai in getting placement in companies for students of engineering colleges have come in for praise from Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari.

P. Mannar Jawahar, Vice-Chancellor, said the Minister appreciated the campus recruitment drive being organised by the university when he had explained to her the Tamil Nadu State Level Placement Programme during their journey from Chennai to Madurai on Thursday. “When she asked me why I was coming to Madurai, I had explained about the offer letters being given by three companies to 574 candidates recruited from various engineering colleges,” Dr. Jawahar said here on Thursday.
He was in the city to distribute the offer letters to candidates who got placed in Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Computer Sciences Corporation. “I told her about the university's role in campus recruitment drive. The Minister had complimented our work,” the Vice-Chancellor told the large number of parents and students who attended the function.
