Admissions on at college

Villupuram: The newly started Government Arts College at Thiruvennainallur near here will start functioning from the current academic year, according to Jothi Murugan, Vice-Channcellor of Thiruvallur University, to which the college has been affiliated.

He said that the college offered the following undergraduate courses: B.A in English literature, B.Com., and B.Sc in mathematics and computer science. So far, a total of 1,100 applications were received for admission and 150 candidates out of them were selected through counselling. The remaining seats would be filled soon.
Mr. Jothi Murugan also said that the college would be temporarily functioning from the Government Middle School campus in Villupuram. The school buildings were being renovated for the purpose and the premises being spruced up.

He observed that Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy was keen that the college should have all facilities in adequate measures. He was personally supervising the development works for the construction of the college.
