Convocation on August 11

Tiruchi: Anna University – Tiruchi (AUT-T) will hold its first convocation on August 11, and has constituted working committees for planning and implementation.

The Chancellor and Governor Surjit Singh Barnala will award degrees to post-graduate (PG) students, a university press release said.
The university has started M.E. Environmental Engineering programme from this academic year and is awaiting approval for starting three more PG programmes: M.Tech. in Pharmaceutical Technology, M.E. in Power System Engineering, and M.E. in Communication Systems.

The university has submitted a revised application to University Grants Commission (UGC) seeking affiliation. Steps have been taken to introduce engineering courses in Tamil medium from this academic year onwards, the release said.

The State Government has provided Rs.22.2 crore as development grant to the university, and has also sanctioned Rs.17.18 crore as infrastructural grant for the AU-T's Thirukuvalai campus, the university communication said.

The university has submitted to the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology an application seeking approval for establishment of a Patent Cell. It had already established a research repository cell to create a reference database of Ph.D. and P.G. dissertations and theses.
