Chennai: The roadmap for admitting students in undergraduate engineering degree courses under the management quota seats in self-financing technical institutions in Tamil Nadu is ready. It is learnt that application forms for management quota admissions for the academic year 2010-11 will be issued from June 10 and the process will be completed on time to ensure that classes could start on August 16. The Consortium of Self-Financing Professional Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu will be the nodal agency for the admissions through a merit-based system.

“The permanent committee for monitoring admissions in private professional colleges headed by retired Madras high court judge K Raviraja Pandian has finalised a tentative schedule for management quota admissions in engineering colleges. The process would commence on June 1 with the issuing of the notification and go on till early August,” a source in the Tamil Nadu higher education ministry told TOI.

Two members of the committee also said the rank list for students applying under the management would be tentatively published on July 12. “The admission of students based on the merit list will be done from July 21 to August 10,” the source added. Any admission made by colleges prior to this date will be considered illegal, a higher education ministry official said.

Last week the government had released the admission schedule for government quota seats in engineering colleges as per which the single window counselling would end on July 25. In Tamil Nadu, 50% of the seats in private engineering colleges administered by minorities and 30% of the seats in unaided non-minority institutions are earmarked as management quota seats. The remaining seats are filled up by a single window counselling process conducted at the Anna University.
