MBA students throw up novel ideas at exhibition on e-business
Tiruchi: First year MBA students of Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) zealously presented an exhibition titled ‘E-xpressions' as part of their e-business course on Tuesday.
Groups of students analysed industries where e-business was in wide application and drew up plans creatively using models, colourful charts and interactive games to explain their research.
The event was inaugurated by T.V Subrmaniam, Chennai-based management consultant, and former BIM Director Arya. Senior officials of BHEL _ G. Ramakrishnan, GM (Outsourcing), K. Ramachandran, GM (Planning & development), and E. Kirubakaran, Senior DGM (Outsourcing) _ were invited as chief guests.
The chief guests appreciated the students' presentations and probed the students with questions. The entire event was also dotted with fun what with students using games and videos innovatively to aid their explanation.
The event also saw the budding managers come up with a number of novel ideas in e-business. Some of them were online versions of shopping of sea foods, customisation of cars and next generation news browser.
The ideas also portrayed a rural webstore for selling rural art and produce, a customised catering order services where one can order different dishes from different restaurants and get it home-delivered through a website, and a site for online auction of paintings and other art works.
Industries like banking, tourism and retail shopping were also analysed for the e-business processes used in them.
This event was the brainchild of Nigama, the e-business course instructor at BIM.
Blend of theory and practice
According to Dr. Nigama, the event made the course a unique blend of theory and practice to help the students understand the fundamentals and to explore new opportunities and trends in e-business.
