Erode: Students of SSM School of Management of S.S.M. College of Engineering, Komarapalayam, had an exciting session on management lessons, thanks to a seminar The Hindu Business Line organised on Friday. The event was the inauguration of The Hindu Business Line Club and the speaker Pradeep Yuvaraj, Director, Education and Learning, Finerva Financial Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Yuvaraj gave students a worksheet, which they worked out to only find that though there existed very simple solutions they were unable to solve because of conditioned thinking. "We all think of complicated solutions though simple ones exist because of narrow thought process and preconceived notions," he told the students and asked them to think out of the box.

Touching upon creativity and business, he told the students that to be creative in business they should stop thinking like managers and think instead like business leaders. "Business leaders are those who creatively solve problems rather than looking for existing or proven answers."

Further on creativity, he said, "Today's business needs are very different from what they were even two years ago, as things are changing every minute. Technology is changing, innovations are taking place at a fast pace and the biggest need of today's businesses is creative answers rather than run of the mill solutions."

Stressing the importance of entrepreneurship, he told the students that most entrepreneurs had turned one while working at a factory. "Over 72 per cent of entrepreneurs got their business ideas while working in their previous job."

Head of the SSM group of institutions M.S. Mathivanan, Regional Manager, 'The Hindu', D. Rajkumar and others were present on the occasion.
